Description

The NATIVE-R9 is a 9U, 19”-wide high-end MTCA.4 chassis for all uses cases demanding superior performance e.g., physics applications. With up to 12 AMC and 12 (+3) RTM, it offers a maximum of flexibility. Supporting up to 4 (6 as option) Power Modules and 2 MCHs (one with additional RTM), the NATIVE-R9 provides various levels of redundancy.

Payload Boards

The NATIVE-R9 is a high-end MTCA.4 chassis for up to 12 double-width mid-size AMC modules. Each of them can be expanded from the rear by a double-width mid-size µRTM, connecting to the mating AMC via a Zone3 connector. Thus it is possible e.g., to rise the number of interfaces. Other options may be an increase of storage capacity or processing power – all without populating a further slot from the front side.

Redundant and flexible Infrastructure

The NATIVE-R9 provides up to 2 double-width full-size MCHs with the possibility to connect an additional NAT-MCH-RTM to one of them.

The standard configuration supports up to 4 double-width full-size Power Modules (2 more as option, see next paragraph). So numerous redundancy options are feasible.

By default, the NATIVE-R9 features a dedicated JTAG-Slot, which in combination with a NAT-JSM enables permanent JTAG functionality without blocking a separate AMC-Slot.

Low-Level Radio Frequency (LLRF) Backplane 

With the optional LLRF-Backplane, the NATIVE-R9 supports up to 3 double-width full-size eRTMs. These modules operate independently from a front side module and connect directly to the LLRF via Zone2 connectors.

Moreover, 2 further Power Modules can be inserted from the rear side and work as Rear Power Modules (RPM).

White Rabbit Support

As an option, the NATIVE-R9 supports the White Rabbit protocol. This Ethernet extension provides extremly fast, high-accurate time transfer and synchronization, based on modular and flexible Ethernet networks.

Cooling Performance

The NATIVE-R9 chassis features 2 Cooling Units (CU), fully managed and hot-swappable. Each CU owns six fans, summing up to a total air flow of 846 CFM (1440 m³/h).
