Description

The NATIVE-C3-PTM is a 3U, 19”-wide MTCA.0 chassis for up to 12 AMCs, which provides two remarkable benefits to the customer: precision timing and superior cooling performance. With up to 12 AMC slots, it offers flexible operation of payload boards. Moreover, the chassis supports up to 4 Power Modules and 2 MCHs, so it grants various levels of redundancy.

Payload Boards

The NATIVE-C3-PTM is a MTCA.0 chassis for up to 12 single-width mid-size AMC modules, especially with high demands on precision timing. The dedicated slots for Precision Timing Modules (PTM) provide a solid base for those applications. Due to its exceptional cooling capacity, the chassis is ideally suited for high-density AMC designs.

Redundant and flexible Infrastructure

The NATIVE-C3-PTM provides up to 2 single-width full-size MCH slots. Each MCH can be supported by an NAT-AMC-PTM, a Precision Timing Module. This redundant, high-accurate holdover clocking source operates from its own dedicated slot. Its main task is providing a high-end local clocking source to the MTCA system. This includes the capability to lock to an incoming external reference signal (e.g. GPS). Subsequently, the NAT-AMC-PTM rates the quality of these signals and offers the clocking source to the MTCA system and/or towards the front panel.

The chassis supports up to 4 single-width full-size Power Modules (2x from the front, 2x from the rear). So numerous redundancy options are feasible.

Superior Cooling Performance

The NATIVE-C3-PTM chassis features 2 Cooling Units (CU), fully managed and hot-swappable. Air flows from front to the rear.

Each Cooling Unit tray owns three counter-rotating fans and one cooling management module (EMMC), which connects directly to the backplane. Thus, the NATIVE-C3-PTM offers a superior air-pressure capability. This means, that the throughput does not reduce much due to dense AMC design.

Total air flow of all fans sums up to 420 CFM (720 m³/h).
