Description

The NAT-MCH-HUB-E-40GX is a 40G HUB-Module with XAUI functionality for the NAT-MCH. Compared to its predecessor, the NAT-MCH-XAUI Hub-Module, the NAT-MCH-HUB-E-40GX multiplies the bandwith both via backplane and front panel uplink.

The HUB-Module owns a Marvell Ethernet Switch and four port extenders. This combination provides various backplane interconnect options (including XAUI) to the AMCs. The infrastructure is based upon 10G or 40G, a mixture is possible. 1 up to 4 lanes can be combined for each AMC slot, as well as 2.5 and 10 Gbaud rate per lane.

Moreover, the NAT-MCH-HUB-E-40GX features optional front uplink(s) up to 25G with a maximum transmission rate of 100G per x4 port. The maximum uplink speed depends on the chosen transceiver type.

Depending on the backplane, the HUB-Module supports an update channel with up to 40G to a second NAT-MCH in the MTCA system. Another internal update channel to the Ethernet switch located on the base board operates with 1G.

The NAT-MCH-HUB-E-40GX provides high performance, low latency, and robust Ethernet packet switching service for MTCA systems. Additionally, it supports many other features including but not limited to 802.1Q VLAN, Jumbo Frames, Port Base VLAN etc.

With its high transmission rates of 40G including XAUI towards the backplane and 100G via the front panel, the NAT-MCH-HUB-E-40GX HUB-Module for the NAT-MCH is highly suitable for applications demanding highest bandwidth Ethernet in MTCA.
