MCH with RTM Support for Physics Applications

  • double-width, full-size NAT-MCH-S4
  • NAT-MCH-G4-CLKP Clock module
  • NAT-MCH-G4-HUB-Px84 Hub module

Description

The NAT-MCH-SCIx84 is a pre-configured MCH package aiming for the special demands of physics applications with high-speed Ethernet connections as well as broad FatPipe bandwidth and RTM support.

The package comprises of

  • NAT-MCH-S4 Carrier Hub (the double-width variant of the NAT-MCH-G4)
  • NAT-MCH-G4-CLKP clock mezzanine and
  • NAT-MCH-G4-HUB-Px84 Hub module

The MCH base board features 1G / 2.5G / 10G FabricA connections to each AMC, as well as a two 1GbE available at two RJ45 interfaces at the front panel. As an assembly option the RJ45 interfaces could be replaced by SFP fibre uplinks.

Two low-jitter clock multiplexers route CLK1 and CLK2 (MLVDS signalling standard). CLK3 is executed as PCIe Reference Clock (100MHz Spread Spectrum Clock, HCSL). A precision timing option consisting of a GPS input and an onboard OCXO is available as seperately orderable assembly option.

By the 84 lanes of its PCIe switch, the NAT-MCH-SCIx84 offers PCIe Gen5 x4 to all 12 AMCs. If supported by the backplane, it even features x8 links for up to six AMCs in the system. Moreover, a PCIe Gen5 x16 (or two x8) uplink(s) is available via two QSFP-DD interfaces at the front (depending on transceiver type).

The NAT-MCH-SCIx84 provides a PCIe Gen5 x16 link to an optional RTM and offers mounting space for NVME/SSD memory devices.
