Description

The NATIVE-mini-R1 is an integrated 1U, 19″ MTCA.4 chassis. It features payload slots for up to 4 AMCs, of which 2 can be expanded by an RTM. Moreover, the chassis owns an embedded MCH, the so-called NAT-eMCH, as well as a built-in power supply and Cooling Unit.

Payload Boards

The NATIVE-mini-R1 is an integrated MTCA.4 chassis for up to 2 double-width mid-size AMC modules. Each of them can be expanded from the rear by a double-width mid-size µRTM, connecting to the mating AMC via a Zone3 connector. Thus it is possible e.g., to rise the number of interfaces. Other options may be an increase of storage capacity or processing power – all without populating a further slot from the front side.

In addition, the NATIVE-mini-R1 offers mounting space for two further AMCs in single-width mid-size form factor.

Embedded Infrastructure

The NATIVE-mini-R1 owns an embedded management and switching entity, the NAT-eMCH. It enables communication between AMC modules and monitoring of the system, including power and cooling management.

Via its 1GbE switch, the NAT-eMCH provides direct access to all AMCs and the system management via the 1GbE Uplink at the chassis front. The 1GbE switch also allows direct integration of system components in an existing network infrastructure.

Unlike the NAT-MCH, the NAT-eMCH is restricted in its functional range. Nevertheless, it supports the typical hot-swap management and its transition state machine (M0 to M6) for each AMC.

In addition to that, the NAT-eMCH monitors and verifies local sensor data of the chassis and installed FRU devices. Furthermore, it supplies MTCA power and cooling concepts by accessing the chassis integrated power supply and fan coolers.  The Command Line Interface served by the front USB port gives remote access for administration.

The NATIVE-mini-R1 offers two different Fat-Pipe configuration options. The user can select the desired setting via the NAT-eMCH.

Solutions / Applications

The NATIVE-mini-R1 aims for applications which are cost-sensitive and get along with only few AMCs, but on the other hand want to profit from the proven technological benefits that are offered by µTCA (e.g. error detection and isolation, open system management and monitoring, etc.).
