Description

The NAT-FMC-PoE is an FPGA Mezzanine Card (FMC) with Power-over Ethernet (PoE) and GigE Vision ® support. It is part of the NATvision system, a complete environment for the development and deployment of sophisticated image and high performance video processing applications.

The FMC has been designed for operation on an FPGA carrier e.g., the NAT-AMC-ZYNQUP-FMC. Due to the powerful FPGA resource of the carrier board, the combination of both features GigE Vision ® support, a global camera interface standard. Based on Gigabit Ethernet, it allows for fast image transfer using low-cost standard CAT5 or CAT6 cables over very long lengths.

Via four RJ45 ports at the front panel, the NAT-FMC-PoE offers four GbE-Links with Power over Ethernet. The module features a high-effcient power conversion, the interface complies with IEEE802.3af standard. With its internal power supply, the total power output is limited to 20W for all channels. Additional power supply from the carrier rises the total power output to 50W. Thus,  the NAT-FMC-PoE not just establishes the data connection, it also guarantees the power supply of a compatible unit.

Due to their high speed interconnect topology, FMC modules are the ideal platforms to aggregate and process high bandwidth data streams as provided i.e. by camera links and video streams. So, the NAT-FMC-PoE qualifies for first level picture or video processing and analysis. Other applications may be pattern recognition and quality inspection.

Besides, the NAT-FMC-PoE can work as a simple general purpose Quad-GbE Ethernet interface.
