NAMC-PMC

The NAMC-PMC is a carrier board designed in AMC form factor featuring one PMC module slot. It is ideally suited to migrate from cPCI or PMC based systems to MTCA, as it supports the use of standard off-the-shelf PMC boards in MTCA environments. Applications can benefit from the reliability and bandwidth of MTCA systems as well as from the cost efficiency and large variety of standard PMCs with low cost interfaces such as input/output (IO).

It is available as a single width, mid- or full-size Advanced Mezzanine Card and compatible with MTCA systems incl. customized card guides.

To assure the data transfer between the AMC carrier and the mounted PMC module, a PLX PEX8112 PCIe to PCI bridge supports the PCI connectivity.

The required Module Management Controller (MMC) needed for Intelligent Platform Management Interface (IPMI) communication is supported by the NAMC-PMC carrier.

Please note:
The NAMC-PMC is compatible with a standard MicroTCA backplane, but mechanical conditions contribute minor deviations from the AMC specification.

As the width of the PMC is just slightly smaller than a single-width AMC, the front panel of the NAMC-PMC is just a mechanical frame to keep the PMC in place. Neither a hot swap handle nor hot swap LEDs are placed on the front panel. Thus, the hot swap function as described in the specification, is not supported.

Moreover, special card guides are mandatory to insert the NAMC-PMC into an MTCA system.
